This is currently a free job posting service for employers of chemists in and around Minnesota, USA.  Each posting is displayed for two months.




Program Purpose / Goals / Mission:

To publish four issues of The Minnesota Chemist yearly.

 

Position in program (if applicable):  Minnesota Chemist Co-Editor

 

Number of volunteers desired: 3-5

 

General Duties and Responsibilities:

To assure that the section news magazine, The Minnesota Chemist is published in a timely manner four times a year.  For support the editor has the help of an Associate Editor or Co-Editor(s) and a Business Manager.

 

Annual Timeline:

The following steps are carried out by the Editor for each of the quarterly issues.

 

1.      Gather and edit copy from contributors and other sources.

2.      Write a short editorial

3.      Prepare issue using MS Publisher software(provided by the section)

4.      Proof issue prior to sending to printer

5.      Send issue to printer electronically

6.      Proof book and approve for final printing

7.      Issue printed, labeled and sent to Post Office by printer

8.      Extra copies sent to Editor

9.      Short list copies (about 20) labeled and mailed by Editor

 

Other Duties

1.       Quarterly arrange for labels to be sent to printer via spreadsheet provided by ACS National

2.        Maintain communications by going to executive and section meetings

3.      Maintain communications with Webmaster for local web site

4.      Solicit advertisements and manage invoicing with section Treasurer for advertising

 

Time commitment required/estimated:

3-10 hours a month per persons with 3 editors.  The layout is the most time consuming but is easy with the MS Publisher template format of copy/paste.
