The Litigator's Chemist - Tuesday April 13

Schedule

The Executive Committee Meeting will be in Wick Science Building (WSB) Room 215.  It is reserved from 4:30-6:30 pm.

The dinner will be in the Valhalla Room of the Atwood Memorial Center (basement level on the West side of the building) from 6:00-7:00 pm.

Please note that it is possible to walk indoors from the Wick Science Building to the Atwood Memorial Center on the second-floor walkway.

Presentation

The seminar presentation will be in the Wick Science Building Room 125 from 7:00-8:00 pm.  The presentation is entitled "A Day in the Life of an Investigative Chemist" featuring Dr. Thomas Gardner of Crane Engineering.

Abstract

To support modern litigation practices, the investigating chemist needs to be not only fluent in analytical methodology, but also ready at a moment's notice with expertise in a wide range of chemical sciences. This presentation will hope to show through a number of case studies the relationship between the litigator and the chemist, and the tools and considerations engaged in the pursuit of the process.

We will have faculty available to provide tours of the chemistry department before dinner and after the talk for those wishing to be shown around the department or the Imaging Facility.

Menu

The dinner will be served buffet style and will include local Walleye in a Chardonnay Corn Cream Sauce with local Wild Rice in a Stew Tomato.  A vegetarian option of Wild Mushroom and Navy Bean Ragu on a Polenta Cake will be available.  Dinner will include two salad options:  either a house salad or a specialty salad.  Dessert options will include a selection of assorted pies and cakes.  Iced Tea, Water, and Coffee are included.  The cost of the meal is $20.00 and includes all charges.
